Author Talk | 'Pearl Bradshaw – Princess of Hotham' by Stephen Whiteside

Stephen Whiteside, author of ‘Snow, Fire and Gold - the story of Bill Spargo and Evelyn Piper’s life in the Australian mountains,’ is returning to Bright library on Saturday, 7 June to debut his new book, ‘Pearl Bradshaw – Princess of Hotham’

Having interviewed Pearl while researching for ‘Snow, Fire and Gold’, Stephen came to realise that Pearl had led a fascinating life, a life that warranted a book of its own.

Pearl, with her husband Jim managed Hotham Heights Chalet for nine consecutive Winters, from 1937 – 1945. During this time, she faced numerous challenges, including the 1939 bushfire which burnt almost two million hectares of Victoria and cost 71 lives, and the Second World War.

Come along to hear Stephen talk about his new book and learn more about this remarkable woman.
